Roots & Wings Parenting Program.... Coral Springs, Florida, 10/29/98— A new program developed in conjunction with Hazelden, Western Regional Center for Drug-free Schools and Communities and Far West Laboratory, and distributed by the Wisconsin Clearinghouse/Prevention Resources Center, Alcohol and other drugs is being offered to community organizations who are interested in providing a low cost parenting workshop to its membership. This innovative program is based on research, and proven effective in fostering resiliency in kids. It offers parents the opportunity to learn skills that enhance the children’s grow and development while also offering and suggesting protective factors for the family, school and community. Roots and Wings: Raising Resilient Children is a 12 hour workshop which can be divided into 6 two hour sessions or three 4 hour sessions. The two hour, six weeks session is the recommended format.
