Mediation and Divorce Without Attorneys? In Florida, and some other States, couples can mediate without attorneys and can obtain a divorce without attorneys in court (a Pro Se divorce). After preparing the Marital Settlement Agreement and the court papers, the mediator recommends the parties consult with separate attorneys before signing. Where and How Much? Ms. Allyn conducts mediations in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The fee is $175 per couple per hour payable at each session. The typical mediation described here takes about 8 hours: two 2-hour mediation sessions, 3 hours for the mediator's time to prepare the documents and a 1-hour final session to review and sign. For the 8 hours, the total mediator's fee is about $1,600. Additional time is charged at the prevailing hourly rate.
